Marcus Edwards Joins Burnley on a Permanent Deal in 2025

Marcus Edwards

Marcus Edwards, aka the guy who gave defenders nightmares during his loan at Burnley, has decided to stick around. That’s right. The winger has officially joined the Clarets on a permanent basis. No more loan talk. He’s ours now, and he’s signed a shiny new four year deal after helping the club return to the Premier League. Cheers, Sporting CP!

From Portugal to Premier League, via Burnley

Marcus Edwards packed his bags in January, said “obrigado” to Sporting CP, and landed in Burnley. Since then, he’s been doing his thing. You know, casually helping us get promoted. No biggie.

Now, instead of hopping back to Portugal, he’s decided that Burnley (yes, actual Burnley) is the place to be. Sun, glamour, Hollywood vibes… okay, maybe not quite. But Premier League football? That’s the real dream.

Best Dressing Room Ever? Apparently So

In case you were wondering how Marcus is fitting in with the squad, he cleared that up pretty quickly:

“It’s the best dressing room I’ve ever been in; everyone is really close and actually friends away from football. It’s class.”

Translation: The vibes are immaculate. Honestly, when footballers say things like this, you know it’s either really true or they’re trying not to get unfollowed on Instagram. In this case, we believe him. It’s hard not to love the Burnley banter brigade.

Proving Himself (Again)

Edwards also talked about the joy of starting from scratch. Again.

“When you come into a new group you have to sort of prove yourself again and show what you can do and that’s what I tried to do from minute one.”

And prove himself he did. You don’t get a four year contract just for doing keepy uppies in training. (Well, maybe at some clubs, but not here.)

Premier League? Bring It On

Every footballer wants to play in the Premier League. Mainly because it’s where the money, cameras, and weird half time drone shots live. Edwards is no different:

“Every player wants to play in the Premier League and now we’re there, I’m excited. I can’t wait for it now.”

Same, Marcus. Same.

So there you have it. Marcus Edwards is officially on board. He’s not just here for a cheeky winter loan. He’s here for the long haul, Premier League dreams and all.
