Sandeep Lamichhane, Nepal’s former cricket captain and well-known leg-spinner, has announced that he will no longer be part of the Nepal Cricket Association’s (CAN) central contract.
But before anyone jumps to conclusions, no, he is not quitting cricket or going off the grid. In a Facebook post, he explained that this step is about personal and professional growth.
A Step Toward Growth, Not a Goodbye
Sandeep Lamichhane clarified that his decision is not about distancing himself from Nepal or from cricket. He described it as a move toward self-development and a new phase of purpose. He said, “This is not separation, it’s a journey towards growth and purpose.”
Grateful for CAN’s Role
Even as he leaves the central contract, Sandeep Lamichhane expressed appreciation for CAN. He thanked the cricket board for its role in his journey and for supporting the development of Nepali cricket. He had been part of the top Category A list under the contract.
Still Committed to Cricket
Sandeep also made it clear that he is not stepping away from the game itself. He mentioned that life is always changing, and he is excited to move forward not just in cricket but also in other aspects of life.
Dedication to the National Team
He reassured fans that his loyalty to Nepal’s national team and his love for cricket remain unchanged. According to him, sometimes decisions are made to return stronger and more focused. He stated, “My dedication and dream will always be tied to the country and to cricket.”
A Message to Supporters
Sandeep ended his message by thanking his fans and supporters. He said that their trust and encouragement have always inspired him and that his journey is far from over.
What Will CAN Do Next?
As for CAN, the board has stated that any final decision on this matter will be made in their upcoming meeting. For now, they are holding off on any official action.
One thing is clear. Sandeep Lamichhane is still very much part of Nepal’s cricket story, even if it looks a little different going forward.
