The Superman Trailer Is Here in 2025 and It’s a Whole Lot of Super

Superman trailer

The wait is over. The final Superman trailer has landed, and guess what? It’s not all just flying and laser eyes. This time, we actually get a story! Yes, a real plot. Finally.

Lois Lane Does Journalism (Again)

The Superman trailer opens with our favorite reporter Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) interviewing Clark Kent aka Superman (David Corenswet). The topic? His involvement in a foreign war. Casual stuff. Things get intense when Clark yells, “People were going to die!” – and honestly, fair point.

From there, we see quick scenes of explosions, buildings falling, Superman in a giant crater, and a random everyday guy helping him out. Kind of like those sweet moments in the old Spider-Man movies where New Yorkers have Spidey’s back. Only this time it’s Superman who needs a lift.

Blades, Robots, and Krypto (Yes, the Dog)

Now let’s talk about the real stars of the Superman trailer. There’s a woman with spinning blade hands (don’t ask), robots getting wrecked in the Fortress of Solitude, Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) doing his evil stare thing, and cameos galore.

Jonathan Kent (Pruitt Taylor Vince) provides some dad wisdom via voiceover. Meanwhile, we catch glimpses of DC fan favorites: Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Green Lantern aka Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion). And yes, Krypto the Superdog makes an appearance, because even superheroes need emotional support animals.

New Look, New Vibe, Same Blue Suit Seen in Superman trailer

The Superman trailer feels different. It’s bright, colorful, and actually kind of hopeful. Which is a refreshing change after all the gloomy superhero movies we’ve seen lately.

This isn’t just another Superman reboot. It’s the kickoff to a brand-new DC shared universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran. So no pressure or anything.

James Gunn Swears This Isn’t a Copy-Paste Job

Gunn isn’t just remaking the old stuff. He says the movie was influenced by lots of previous DC content, including the classic Richard Donner film. But he’s also mixing in modern vibes and high-energy action, inspired by things like “Top Gun: Maverick.” Yes, you read that right.

Gunn also mentioned All-Star Superman as a key inspiration. So expect a Silver Age tone and a sprinkle of sci-fi madness.

Who’s Who in This Super Lineup?

Besides Corenswet and Brosnahan, we’ve got Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and María Gabriela de Faría playing The Engineer. Oh, and did we mention Mister Terrific, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl? Because this trailer sure does.

When Can You See It?

The movie hits theaters on July 11. So mark your calendars, set your alarms, and maybe start planning your cape-themed outfits now.
